Mom and children looking for a home

Kaulatie Sankar, 38, a mother of five, of Bryce Terrace, St Augustine, is appealing  to the Government for help in obtaining a house, as she has been handed an eviction notice by her landlords. Sankar visited Newsday’s office to highlight her plight, stating that she had been victimised by the former administration. Claiming to have written to former Prime Minister Basdeo Panday explaining the circumstances surrounding her situation, Sankar said though there was never any feedback from Panday, she contacted former Works and Transport Minister, Sadiq Baksh, but to no avail.

Revealing that she had spent almost $80,000 to erect a one storey dwelling house at her uncle’s property in Dinsley Village, Sankar said her family had been illegally removed from the premises. Despite the fact that her name has been on a waiting list at the Ministry of Housing, and she has received a letter acknowledging her application, Sankar said she just needs a house for her family.
