Man shot in face at girlfriend’s home

A Carenage man is resting comfortably at Ward 21 of the Port-of-Spain General Hospital after being shot in his face at his girlfriend’s home by an unknown man six days ago.

According to reports, on Boxing Day, 2003, at around 10 pm, Lyle Francis, 26, of Thompson Crescent, Carenage, was liming in the porch of his girlfriend Alicia Penn’s Plum Mitan Road, Carenage, home, when he heard two loud noise and felt a burning sensation to the left side of his face. He then felt blood running down his cheeks and small holes in his face.

The injured man was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where, after an emergency operation, he was later interviewed by police. Police told Newsday that the information regarding the shooting is not forthcoming as they are getting no response from area residents. Police however told Newsday they believe the shooting is gang-related. Constable Gibbons of the Carenage police is investigating.
