Connection in must-win situation

W CONNECTION are in a must-win situation against “the Stallions” Caledonia AIA to have any realistic chance of dethroning runaway leaders CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh for the T&T Pro League crown. The Connection-AIA encounter at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, is one of three Round 33 matches scheduled from 7 pm today. The 2001 league champs dropped two vital points against 2000 winners Joe Public on Sunday last, and now have a herculean task to bridge a 12-point gap between themselves (68 points) and Jabloteh (80).

Caledonia are in seventh spot in the 10-team standings with 30 points, and will also be fancying their chances of recording only their ninth win of the season. Jabloteh will travel deep south to the Palo Seco Recreation Ground to oppose second-from-bottom South West Institute of Football (SWIF), who have struggled to make any meaningful impact this season. Also on the agenda today is the clash between the third-placed North East Stars and fourth-placed South Starworld Strikers at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella. Today’s Under-20 Division matches will be contested at the three venues from 5 pm.
