Man shot in struggle at KFC
A 39-year-old man who was shot during a struggle with a security guard at the workplace of his former lover, remains warded in a stable condition at the San Fernando General Hospital. Senior Police officers were yesterday said to be contemplating what charges would be laid against the suspect. A police source told Newsday that the suspect may be charged via a warrant or without a warrant. Around 7.50 pm on Sunday, the suspect went to a KFC outlet at Southern Main Road, Marabella, where his ex-lover, Vanessa Chinapoo, 31, worked and demanded to see her.
When Chinapoo refused him an audience, the man began making death threats to her and threatened to kill himself. The suspect left and quietly returned half-an-hour later. While trying to sneak into the kitchen area to get to Chinapoo, he was confronted by security guard Corey Huggins. The suspect grabbed for Huggin’s gun and a struggle ensued. During the struggle the gun went off and the suspect was shot in his right thigh. The man, of Jules Street, Pointe-a-Pierre, is currently under police guard in a stable condition at Ward 3. PC Bachan of the Marabella Police Station is continuing investigations.
