Seventh murder in six days
This country recorded it seventh murder for the year yesterday when an unidentified man was shot dead at the corner of Krisa Drive and Hilltop Avenue, Mt Dor. At around 11.15 am, residents of the normally tranquil area heard three explosions but remained in their homes, thinking it was fireworks. Sometime later, a passerby observed the lifeless body of an East Indian man lying on the ground with blood streaming from his chest. He contacted the police. As police arrived, a number of residents converged at the spot and some were called to try to identify the victim. Newsday understands that the man, who is a stranger to the area, was seen walking along Hilltop Avenue with another man. They were arguing.
On reaching the intersection, one man whipped out a gun and shot his associate three times in the chest and then ran to a car, in which their were two occupants, which had been parked on Williams Street, (northeastern street behind Lever Brothers Ltd) Mt Dor. The shot man collapsed and died on the ground. Based on information, police had earlier identified the man as Rahim Mohammed of Piparo. But after his wife who was contacted said she had spoken to him only minutes before, that theory was thrown out the window. A number of residents of the area told Newsday that he was a stranger and no one knew him. No identification documents were present on him. Visiting the latest murder scene were Supt Anthony, Inspectors Ramsoondar, Hutchins, Modeste, Ramkissoon, Sgt Abraham, Corporal Worrel and Constables Ramjattan, Joseph and Roberts. Cpl Worrel is continuing enquiries.
