Princes Town Pundit dies in freak accident
A FREAK accident on Tuesday cost 23-year-old Pundit Dharam Maharaj his life. According to police sources, around 6.30 pm Mahara, of Lothiens Road, Princes Town, was at the back of his house when a concrete water tank stand supporting two 400 gallon plastic water tanks filled with water collapsed and fell on him. Visiting the scene were officers of the Princes Town Police Station and the District’s Medical Officer, Dr Halkampi, who pronounced him dead. The body was taken to the San Fernando Mortuary and an autopsy carried out at the Forensic Science Centre in St James showed that Maharaj died from multiple internal injuries and internal haemorrhaging.
