Child burns down Penal house

The carelessness of a child caused a house at Legal Trace in Penal to be completely destroyed by fire on Wednesday night. According to police sources, a child reportedly lit a piece of paper, using a box of matches from under a bed, at about 9.05 pm that night. The flame then caught onto the mattress and bedsheet, and then quickly engulfed the 28’ by 28’ board and concrete structure of the house, owned by Alefreda Jones.  Newsday understands that Jones is currently residing in the United States of America and that attempts were being made to contact her. PC Bahadoor of the Penal CID is investigating.
