Student caught with ganja in classroom

A  17-year-old A’level student of Marabella Senior Comprehensive School appeared in court yesterday charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. Richard Cedeno, of Gasparillo, appeared before San Fernando Magistrate Sonia Aleong on the indictable charge and was granted $10,000 bail. It is alleged that a security guard caught Cedeno in a classroom with 1.5 grammes of marijuana in his possession. He  was arrested and taken to the Marabella Police Station. Attorney Subhas Panday, who is appearing for Cedeno, wants to apply to the Director of Public Prosecutions to have the matter tried summarily. He said although Cedeno was not called upon to plead, he admitted to having the drugs. The matter has been adjourned to April 7.
