PM to open National Festival of Eids
Prime Minister Patrick Manning will address the National Festival of Eids today at the Charlieville Educational Complex.
The family day celebration begins at 1 pm. Those attending the festival will be privy to an Islamic fashion show and a trade show. Sawine will also be distributed. A Quaranic reading, interpretation and explanation will also be featured. The event is being organised by the Anjuman Sunnat-ul-Jamaat Association. His Excellency, President George Maxwell Richards, and his wife Dr Jean Richards will also be in attendance.
The theme of the family day is “Islam, Unity in Diversity.” Public relations officer of ASJA, Nazam Shah, said the event is the first of its kind in Trinidad and will be celebrated in grand style. Muslim brothers and sisters will be heading to pilgrimage to make Haj after the festival. Patrons have been assured of secure parking at the event.
