Pro League winners hang in the balance
THE FATE of the 2003 T&T Pro League winners can be determined at 9 o’clock tonight depending on the outcome of two key matches in the 35th round of play. Leaders CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh will square off against Defence Force at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella while second-placed W Connection meet fellow Southerners South West Institute of Football (SWIF) at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva. Jabloteh have 83 points from 33 matches while Connection lie nine points adrift after 32 encounters. Here are the possibities.
If both Jabloteh and Connection win, draw or lose today then the title can be decided on Sunday, when they square off at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo. If Jabloteh win and Connection either draw or lose against SWIF, then Jabloteh will retain the title. But if Connection win and Jabloteh draw or lose against the Army-Coast Guard combination, then Sunday’s match will be vital for both clubs. Two other matches are on the agenda today at 4 pm, with third-placed North East Stars battling neighbours Arima Fire at the Sangre Grande Recreation Grounds while Tobago United oppose South Starworld Strikers at the Roxborough Sporting Complex. With the exception of the North East-Fire battle, all other matches will be preceeded by Under-20 action two hours earlier.
