Jabloteh point away from clinching title
JOSH JOHNSON (15th, 73rd) scored a double while strikers Otis Seaton (6th) and Cornell Glen (83rd) netted one apiece as CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh whipped Defence Force 4-2 at the Manny Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella, in T&T Pro League action. Now Jabloteh need only one point from their final two matches, both against W Connection to retain the title. Connection kept their slim chances alive with a 7-1 demolition of South West Institute of Football (SWIF) at the Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva, also on Wednesday night.
Sherman “Ants” Phillip (19th) and Balondemu Julius (90th) scored for Defence Force. SWIF gave Connection an early scare when Willan Garcia scored one minute after the kickoff, but four goals in the space of nine minutes Kendall Davis (11th and 14th), Lyndon Diaz (16th) and Silvio Spann (20th) put the game beyond reach. Arnold Dwarika (41st), Titus Elva (81st) and Leonson Lewis (89th) added the other goals. North East Stars went on a goalspree against Arima Fire at the Sangre Grande Recreation Ground, with Jerren Nixon (31st and 72nd) and Randolph Jerome (48th and 76th) scoring two apiece and Kern Thomas (85th) the other. And South Starworld Strikers went to the Roxborough Sporting Complex in the sister island Tobago, and handed Tobago United a 4-2 beating, with a hat-trick from Sean Julien (16th, 29th and 86th) and another from Marc Borde (42rd) while Garth Woodley (50th and 76th) was on target for the hosts. Today at the Ato Boldon Stadium, “The Stallions” Caledonia AIA will oppose the “Eastern Lions” Joe Public from 7 pm.
