Potbellied policemen

THE EDITOR: I was reading your editorial (Of candour and guns) online and I wondered, do our police officers ever get repeat training after they graduate from the police barracks. I see so many potbellied officers on the news that something has to be wrong. What about training in up-to-date crime fighting procedures, are these available to them? I was privileged to work in a corporation that continuously sent us on training year in and year out, but I think that police officers regardless of their rank or age should look and be physically fit.
