Enough is enough
THE EDITOR: Yet again we are seeing the effects of the 1990 coup attempt. Muslims are still being targeted for every little thing yet there are those belonging to other religious groups that get away with murder. A perfect example of this is the Mosque that was built in Canada Laventille, here it is a Good Samaritan has constructed a place of worship so as to assist the people of Laventille with spiritual healing and all that is being focused on is that the structure is illegal.
Why is only when a Muslim puts up a structure it is deemed illegal. Two years ago the residents of Aranguez and San Juan were up in arms in regards to a temple that was build on the Samaan tree grounds. Imagine a temple built on a playground and now it has been fully occupied by this group. What is even more interesting is that this property is valued over $1,000,000.00 and no one even bats an eyebrow. How in heavens name can someone occupy a cricket field and get away with it, even the Media is blind. The same group that has taken over the savannah has now opened a Pool Accessory shop with pool table sand all on the layby of the Uriah Butler Highway. It’s time we open our eyes to the truth and realise that Muslims in this country and all over the world are being targetted for one reason or the other. Is it because we are the fastest growing religion in the world? Is it that most Muslims in Trinidad are business owners and are independent thinkers. Muslims got nothing from the past Government and thus far have gotten nothing from the present one.
If comparisons were drawn one would see that Muslims got no land, no financial assistance absolutely nothing. So before NHA and the Government decides that they are going to break down the Mosque in Laventille, let them open their eyes and see the facts first. What is the value of the land in Laventille compared to the land in Aranguez. Muslims in Trinidad and Tobago must now wake up and demand our fair share. Our backs are not only to be ridden during election time. I ask for an immediate investigation in regards to the illegal religious structures all over and also I would like to know who is the true owner of the land called the Divali Nagar Site. Enough is enough.
