Lee-Chin, Yetming make up

JAMAICAN businessman Michael Lee Chin and UNC St Joseph MP Gerald Yetming have patched up their differences over Yetming’s statement in Parliament on January 9. A statement issued yesterday indicated that, Lee Chin and AIC Ltd have considered and accepted UNC MP Gerald Yetming’s follow-up statement in Parliament on January 16. In that statement, Yetming said, “I never said that Mr Lee Chin or the AIC Group paid a bribe or committed any other illegal or improper act.

There was no intention to cast any aspersions on their reputations. I do not know Mr Lee Chin and I wish to make it clear that I have no objections to Mr Lee Chin, the AIC Group, or any fit and proper group or entity doing business in Trinidad and Tobago.” Yesterday, Yetming and Kris Astaphan, executive vice-president of AIC Ltd, met for discussions. Both Yetming and Astaphan agreed that they had very fruitful and frank discussions. As responsible members of the community, the parties sought to resolve the matters between them. According to the statement, Lee Chin, AIC Ltd and Yetming were satisfied that the matter was now behind them. “Each party extends to the other sincere thanks for the open and responsible manner in which they came together to resolve this matter,” the statement added.
