‘My bandit friend’

THE EDITOR: I am grateful to the Calypsonian “Cro Cro” for alerting me to the drug pushers in this country and who are the perpetrators of kidnapping. “They kids happy in London, we kids turning pusherman, I begging my bandit friend to kidnap them, they have money in London and Miami.” It is revealing to know that “we” calypsonians are the fathers and mothers of the pushermen in our society, and “I” as a calypsonian use “my bandit friend” to kidnap others.

Through e-mail, I am now alerting my friends and family in London and Miami that when they do come for carnival, I would not be taking them to any calypso tent as I have no intention of financing drug pushers and kidnappers. I am also asking them to be vigilant, when they land at Piarco. There is the grave danger of tourists from London and Miami being kidnapped by the bandit friends of the calypsonians, in order to build back the economy.
