53 arrested in police exercise

Officers of the South Western Division carried out a massive sting operation in which 53 persons were arrested and charged with various offences, yesterday.

According to police sources, the exercise, which was led by Snr Supt Brooks and Supt Jemmot and supervised by Inspector Wells and Sgt Gay together with other officers was held between the hours of 3 am and 11 am. The suspects ages ranged from 16  to 46 years old and were arrested and charged for various outstanding warrants and other offences, such as, breaking and robbery in the Point Fortin and Siparia districts. They are all expected to appear before a Siparia Magistrate tomorrow to answer to their respective charges.
