CRO CRO NEEDS PRAYERS
THE EDITOR: I would like to express my utter disgust at the lyrics of Cro Cro’s exceedingly negative calypso “Face Reality.” This song is an indication that this society has taken a step backward in the process of becoming a developed nation. How can someone sing this song and feel proud of himself? In one verse of his calypso, he sings, “They kids in London, we kids turning pusher man. I begging my bandit friend to kidnap them.” With reference to this excerpt, the line “Show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are,” explicitly describes Cro Cro. This “Mighty Midget,” in his effort to incite discord and violence, has indicated that he is unquestionably unfit to be a role model.
To Cro Cro: Are you at peace with yourself?
To the pathetic kidnappers: “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” — Proverbs 15:3
To the families of kidnapped victims: “Life is eternal; and love is immortal; and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.” — Anon. Hopefully Cro Cro would recognise the severe implications of his unconstructive calypso on TT’s society and would soon produce a song that motivates all to live peacefully and humbly and also one that encourages all to make this country a safe place.
