Zero tolerance on kidnapping

THE EDITOR: When the people in Chaguanas and Caroni protested last year, the police reaction was swift and heavy handed. Today is ten days since Cro Cro released his calypso that promotes and encourages kidnapping and nothing has been done. He is still walking free, no doubt glorifying in the huge sales of his CD. What are the authorities waiting on? The politicians are saying that they have not heard the lyrics, but one verse was printed in the newspapers and they have numerous opportunities to get the words of this song: that is if they really want to investigate and press charges. Some of them, like Hart, Yuille-Williams, Hinds, and Regis-Robinson, and the CoP were most present in the Revue Tent that night, but for some strange reason they all got up and left before Cro Cro came on to perform. How convenient.

Cro Cro has claimed in the song that he has bandit friends. Are the police following up on this? After all Cro Cro’s friends may be wanted by the police for murder, kidnapping, etc, and the moronic midget can lead them to capture these criminals. It is clear to me that nothing will be done and this PNM supporter will be free to render his “Reality Check” in the tent before a PNM audience nightly. The police will let him off scott free. So much for their zero tolerance on kidnapping! Meanwhile they will use taxpayers’ money to send officers to London to dig up dirt on Mr Panday.
