TT unions in Cuba to block FTAA

THE PRESIDENT of the National Trade Union Centre (NATUC), Robert Giuseppi, is at the helm of a trade union team attending a conference in Cuba. Other members of the team are James Lambert, first deputy president general of the National Union of Government and Federated Workers (NUGFW); Dave Smith, director of communications, NUGFW, and Michael Annisette, president of the Seamen and Waterfront Workers’ Trade Union. Participants at the conference will examine ways of opposing the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA). Speaking from Havana, Giuseppi said, “Our attendance confirms NATUC’s international approach and ensures that our voice is heard in regional affairs.
