Safety fears for Parliament

THE EDITOR: I wish to advise the Fire Commissioner to send one of his officers to check the means of escape for our Parliamentarians and Senators as our affairs are conducted in Parliament.

Judging from the seating arrangements I have seen, it is difficult in my view for them to leave their seats quickly and in an orderly manner. God forbid, if there is an emergency, natural or man-made a lot of our representatives would not make it to safety, because they would have problems leaving their seats. Even when a member is “storming” out of parliament it is done with difficulty. Perhaps this is a good cause for moving Parliament; the safety aspect. Change is good, life is better.
