Thousands turn up for Chutney Glow
Thousands flooded Screamers 2 Carpark, La Romaine in a sea of white for last Saturday’s Chutney Glow concert. Former Miss Universe Wendy Fitzwilliam was among the many women swaying to the pulsating rhythms of chutney music. The show that kicked at 9:30 saw the best crossover band in the land, JMC Triveni with Carlene Wells, Sarika Mahabir and Anil Bheem. Bheem a crowd favourite surely did not disappoint his fans. The concert saw a thrilling performance of the SSL Melobugs with Andy Singh, Nisha and Duffy who unleashed all their mega hits, supported by pyrotechnics that lit up the Screamers carpark. Also appearing was Adesh Rum Till I Die” Samaroo who launched an official challenge to his arch rival and chutney counterpart Devanand Gattoo.
Reigning Ragga Soca Monarch Bunji Garlin delivered a fast track performance as together with Godfathers Asylum they rendered the hits — “Smoke Fire”, “Macoing” and “Carnival In The Country” that sent the crowd into a state of pandemonium. Big band Karma, was the last band to hit the stage as they delivered a mixture of R&B, Rock, Dub, Rap and Soca all fused together and both Sexy Kavita and Nisha Bissember held the attention of the male members of the audience. The show that went smoothly was complemented by a Police presence and a K9 squad saw no form of violence all night long.
