Carol Cuffy-Dowlat

THE EDITOR: In my opinion Carol Cuffy-Dowlat is a remarkable woman. Being the lone UNC councillor in the San Fernando City council she is heavily outnumbered, yet she perpetually stands firmly against the odds. Last week she showed her prowess and mettle when she was viciously attacked by Mayor Atherley and the PNM councillors. They indulged in the most disgraceful behaviour as they shouted at Ms Cuffy-Dowlat and banged their paws on the table so that the UNC representative could not speak. But, they underestimated this true heroine and she was able to withstand their unholy abuse and emerge unscathed, ready to fight another day.

Carol Cuffy-Dowlat is a superb example to all the young women of Trinidad and Tobago (like myself ) for she demonstrates tremendous courage and resillience in the most trying situations. As a devoted UNC supporter I am very proud of her and I want her to know that her strength encourages me and inspires me when I feel depressed at the way things are going in this country under the dictatorship of Patrick Manning.
