James captains Under-19 women for CFU qualifier

TRINIDAD and Tobago Under-19 women football team will begin their Caribbean Football Union (CFU) preliminary round qualifiers on Sunday, for the 2004 CONCACAF Under-19 final round qualification in Canada from May 28 to June 6. This is when the TT lasses oppose Anguilla, at the tiny Leeward Islands nation, in the first of a home-and-away tie. The return leg is scheduled for February 15. Captain of the 18-member Trinidad and Tobago team is defensive midfielder and 2003 Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) MVP Nadia James and the squad includes ten players who formed part of the SSFL’s All Star team.
 
They are  James, fellow Malick teammates Nyasha Reyes and Anastasia Prescott, Gail-Ann Thomas (Toco), Aveann Douglas (St George’s), Maylee Attin-Johnson (Diego Martin), Kennya Cordner (Signal Hill), Katrina Meyer (Holy Name), Ayanna Russell (El Dorado Secondary) and Dernelle Mascall (Moruga). Newcomers to the squad include reserve goalkeeper Mary Granger from Moruga, midfielder Racine Clarke from Diego Martin and Toco’s striker Sherva Charles. Eight teams will participate in the CONCACAF qualifiers with the two finalists advancing to the second Under-19 World Championship in Thailand from November 10-27.
