UNC sacrificing citizens
THE EDITOR: There was a newspaper article by Dr Moonilal asking if Aneesher Ragoo’s kidnapping was bogus. I read the article and my immediate thought was that his real question should have been, “Is it possible that Ragoo could have been alive today if the UNC had supported the Anti-Kidnapping Bill? Would Ragoo and others been spared from being kidnapped and murdered had the Police Reform Bill been supported by the UNC?” These are the questions that should be asked by every UNC parliamentarian.
These are the questions that should be asked by all those who want to condemn Cro Cro. If just one person could have been spared from being kidnapped and possibly murdered, had the Police Reform and the Anti-Kidnapping Bill been supported by the UNC, would it not have be worth it? The business of the Opposition is not to make the government look good, or to rescue them, but to seek the interest and betterment for their people. Reality is that they are so bent on trying to bring down the government that they are prepared to watch “their” people sacrificed by being kidnapped, robbed and even murdered. Is it worth it? By refusing to support and strengthen the legislation, they are giving into criminal activities more than Cro Cro’s song. The sad part of it all is that their people are prepared to idly stand by and let it all happen.
