Arima Borough neglected

THE EDITOR: I was really shocked recently to hear that Minister Pennelope Beckles plans to take drastic action concerning outstanding arrears owed to WASA. Residents of Arima have been experiencing water problems for over 30 years and almost every house in the borough has at least one water tank. Consumers are forced to pay very high rates even though they are not receiving a regular water supply. Recently some residents had to pay a $500 reconnection charge even though they had not been getting water for more than two weeks. Consumers should be reimbursed when this happens but nobody cares. No one seems to be interested in dealing with the corruption that is going on in all the public utilities.

We all supported Ms Beckles when she ran in the election and while she was our representative she did very little for the residents of the borough. We have a market that is leaking like a strainer and the poor vendors have to run for cover when there is heavy rainfall. This borough is badly neglected. Readers, you too must support my cry.
