EMA contributing towards the deterioration of hill
THE EDITOR: Is the PNM a caring or a careless Government? Just imagine more than seven months, the EMA brought down a “Big Stick policy” and halted the project of a couple who were preparing to build their home at the bottom of the hill where there are other houses. Up to now, no one has lifted a finger to have the project continued. What happened to the City Council, including Marlene Coudray et al and the representative for San Fernando West Dianne Seukeran.
They brought a whole entourage on the hill with the EMA to stop the project. Since then matters became worse, they prevented them from continuing and the area continues to deteriorate causing a large tree to fall on the adjacent house. When the tree was being cut, the City Police came on the scene as though they didn’t care if the house was damaged. The owners said, “Since the project stopped, the earth from the side of the house continues to fall because the owners did not get a chance to place a wall,” (it has been more than seven months the EMA has stopped this project).
If their houses collapse, I hope Dianne Seukeran knows who will pay when the authorities allowed the “Iron Fist” EMA to halt the project in the rainy season. Those experts did not know what to expect, they sat and said nothing for more than two months. If the San Fernando City Police have nothing to do and want some work, the Government should use them among the 1000 police needed to help combat crime. Send them on the East West corridor to help. I suggest the whole entourage who went up the hill and allowed the EMA to stop the project, take another trek up the hill and see the mess they caused and do something about it.
