Senior Games competitors wanted

AN urgent call has gone out to senior citizens for this year’s inaugural Trinidad and Tobago Senior Games. This event will be staged at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex, Mucurapo, on May 8 and 9, and is for persons 50-years-and-over in over 20 categories, including tennis, golf, swimming, netball, football, cricket, track and field, scrabble, bridge, marble-pitching and top-spinning.

According to the organisers, the Games seek to encourage an active and healthy lifestyle for the nation’s senior citizens and will be a fantastic chance for them to test their skills against each other as well as promoting a sense of camaraderie. Registration for the two-day games can be done at all First Citizens Bank branches nationwide, with a deadline set for March 15. Volunteers are also being sought for the programme, for which further information can be had from the games’ secretariat at 628-4800.
