Shameless behaviour by soca ‘icons’

THE EDITOR: It is a comedy that people would choose KMC, Machel Montano and others to be role models for the young people of the nation. Take Montano and his act for 2004 featuring some shameless young women called the Powder Puff Girls. The leading noise maker for the band Xtatic knows fully well that what he engages in on stage, and what he encourages the youths in his audience to indulge in is indecent. That is why he barred media photographers from snapping pictures of his Powder Puff Girls as they contorted themselves in all manner of indecent poses while Montano hovered around them in nasty behaviour.

Every year his  performance standards sink lower and lower, and encourage his youthful fans to do like him. No wonder, the behaviour of students in certain schools rant and rave and carry on. At the same time he  pretends to be so sanctimonious. Machel cannot fool God, and the experiences at the ill-fated Unity concert some years ago and last year Carnival, when many of his fanatical fans were severely injured, has not sunk into his conscience. He has not learnt his lesson and he has chosen to ignore God’s warning! This is the last person to be an icon for the youths.
