WICB keep UK ticket levy
ST JOHN’S: The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has not lifted the levy on tickets sold in the UK for the forthcoming Cable & Wireless 2004 Series between the West Indies and England. This is the word from WICB CEO Roger Brathwaite in response to speculation in the UK press following a recent WICB release that gave the option of calling the “WICB Ticketline” from February 23. The WICB CEO explained that any callers to “WICB Ticketline” from the UK, Europe and the Republic of Ireland were being re-directed to the UK-based New Century Marketing at (0)207 400 1909 to make their actual purchases.
Brathwaite also noted that the WICB had never indicated in the release that the levy would be lifted. “Patrons in the UK, Europe and the Republic of Ireland can only make their purchases through New Century Marketing, who are the exclusive agents for sales in the European region,” Brathwaite emphasised. “Persons wishing to purchase tickets who are resident in countries outside of Caricom, with the exception of the UK, Ireland or Europe, can use the WICB Ticketline for their credit card purchases,” he noted.
