‘Compre’ n-ball champs again

MUCURAPO Senior Comprehensive are still rulers secondary schools netball.

The “Compre” girls whipped sister-school Mucurapo Junior Secondary 24-19 at the Woodbrook Youth Facility yesterday, to retain the British Gas Netball League national crown. Unbeaten during the five-match preliminary stage, “Compre” were given a run for their money in yesterday’s final, and were only ahead by a solitary goal 9-8 at the half-time interval in the 15-minute per half match. But the experience of national Under-17 national goal-shoot Afeisha Noel who scored 23 goals from 30 attempts, proved decisive for “Compre” in the end.  Akeisha Mark scored the other goal from four attempts.

The other national Under-17 star and goal-attack Nariba Grant made a valiant attempt to lift “Junior Sec” scoring 16 goals from 22 attempts, while Anuolo Camejo had three goals from eight attempts. Sangre Grande Educational Institute, the East Zone champs, finished in third position with runners-up Toco Composite in fourth. Play-off for the other positions in the 12-team series will take place at a later date.
