Triathlon season gets underway

TWO DUATHLON events will be held at the King George V Park, St Clair as the 2004 national triathlon season begins from 1.30 pm today. The first duathlon (run-ride-run) contest will be the first of a five-race series partly-sponsored by Trinidad Hilton’s KIDS in the Caribbean Fund for competitors under the age of 15 in three categories — Under-9, 10-12 and 13-15.

Lucozade Sport will stand part of the costs for the second event on the day, a Tri-a-Tri/Du (triathlon/duathlon) with participants running around the park once, then pedalling around the block five times and a final sprint around the area. The association is still in the process of obtaining sponsors for their 2004 meets due to the failure of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs to release their proposed subvention.
