Smith hits 159 for Windwards
PHILIPSBURG, St Maarten: The Windward Islands team was nine runs away from capturing first innings honours against the Leeward Islands in the fifth round of the Carib Beer Cricket Series at the Caribe Lumber Ballpark yesterday. At the close of play, the Windwards were 370 for five in 119 overs, chasing the Leewards 378 for nine declared.
Discarded West Indies left handed batsman Devon Smith hit a brilliant 159 including 18 fours and one six, off 290 balls in his 363-minute, and featured in a 154-run partnership with fellow opener Craig Emmanuel who made 73. Smith later partnered skipper Rawl Lewis who was unbeaten on 62, in an 106-run stand.
