Devon Smith ‘Man-of-the-Match’

PHILIPSBURG: The Leeward and Windward Islands played to a draw yesterday on the final day of their fifth-round Carib Beer Series regional cricket match, which was the first-ever First-Class contest held in St Maarten. The Leewards now have 16 points in the tournament. Wind-wards received six points for the match because they secured first innings points and now have a total of 24 points.

The best batsman for the Leewards was Stuart Williams who scored 74 runs in the first innings. The Windwards’ top scorer was Devon Smith. He scored 159 runs and was named “Man-of-the Match.” The Windwards face Kenya in St Vincent in the sixth round starting on Friday, while the Leewards take on tournament leaders Barbados in St Thomas.
