D/Force, Police lead All Sectors n-ball

DEFENDING champions Defence Force have joined Police at the top of the Championship Division standings in the All Sectors Netball League. This they did when they whipped CFC 61-50 at the East Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Tacarigua. The Policewomen were also winners over Fire 51-47 at the same venue on Saturday. National goal-attack Lystra “Twinkletoes” Zamore who is back after a season lay-off, continued her excellent shooting scopring 28 of her 33 attempts. Diana Pierre notched 33 goals from 38 for The Army-Coast Guard women who led throughout 16-11, 31-22 and 45-34 at the intervals.

Another national player Janelle Barker was also in tremendous form scoring 43 of 47 attempts for CFC, with Raquel Russell adding seven of 16. Fire started briskly in their match and led 15-11 at the end of the first quarter, but Police arrested the situation and outscored their rivals 12-8 to knot-up the scores 23-23 at the halfway stage. The Policewomen surged into a 41-35 lead at the end of three quarters and held on for their four-goal victory. Euphemia Huggins had 32 goals from 34 attempts and Donna Charles 19 of 27 for Police, while Simone Morgan had 34 of 43 and Merlicia Lovell 13 of 24 for Fire. Both teams are all knotted up at the top of the standings with six points from their four matches, and have the same goal-difference also. The Policewomen maintained their unbeaten run in the Alternative X Division with a 51-40 triumph over Cavaliers also Saturday.
