Ooze, Not This Time step lively

OOZE and Not This Time stole the spotlight on the gallops at Santa Rosa Park, Arima, as trainers chose to take things easy with their charges, only keeping them ticking over with light work. The pair of Shaffique Khan-trained horses breezed the last 1000 metres in 1:01.46 seconds on the main course which was made sloppy by overnight rain. Iron Will, Hassan and Massoud were the only other runners to attain “good” in the column of the Arima Race Club official clockers’ report for their spin over 600 metres, completed in 37.33 seconds.

Fortunate Flag who may be eyeing the Starter Allowance 1100 metres sprint when racing resumes next week, with the staging of the first “Carib Friday Lime” card this season, took the opportunity to have a field of the grass track. The Kenneth De Silva Jnr charge stretched his legs over 800 metres in a quiet 59.98 seconds. Also choosing to work on the grass were Tribal Place, Joan Of Arc, Skippy’s Dream, Royal Mist and Highness. Tribal Place cantered and only increased over the last 400 metres to post 28.11 seconds on the clock. Joan Of Arc covered 800 metres in 56.12 seconds, while Skippy’s Dream and Royal Mist went at a faster clip to registered 51.62 seconds. Highness chose to travel a longer trip. The Jose William-Samaroo trained covered 1000 metres in 1:1190 seconds.
