First Citizens duo dominate CariFin run
THAT man Joel Bharat of First Citizens Bank again proved unbeatable in the CariFin Cross Country Urban Challenge Around-the-Savannah one lap race. Despite being on his own for the greater part of this year’s run last Wednesday, Bharat still managed to trim four seconds off his best time. He completed the trip around the inside of the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain in 13.02. There was a new winner of the women category when Davie Lalla-Singh, also of First Citizens, outsprinted Heidi Achong in the final 80 metres.
Uchenna Ogbue of RBTT, last year’s winner sat out the event, recovering from her exertions in the recent CLICO Trinidad and Tobago Marathon. She clocked 17.48. Over 100 runners including Deputy Central Bank governor Dr Shelton Nicholls, Scotiabank CEO Richard Young and FINAN/RBTT manager Leroy Calliste were at the starting line.
