Environment group launches TT project
THE CARIBBEAN Regional Environmental Programme (CREP) Amenity Area project for Trinidad and Tobago will soon be launched in Trinidad and Tobago. A final pre-launch stakeholder consultation will be held on Monday at 2 pm at the Toco Regional Complex, Cemetery Street, Toco. The meeting will be co-hosted by the CREP Project Management Unit (PMU) and the two Trinidad focal point organisations, Stakeholders Against Destruction for Toco (SAD) and Forestry Division.
The forum is open to all interested organisations and individuals that consider themselves stakeholders in the sustainable development of the Matura to Matelot region. CREP is a programme funded by the European Union (EU), which is taking place simultaneously in 13 CARIFORUM countries. A specially created Project Management Unit (PMU) within the Caribbean Conservation Association (CCA) administers CREP. The CREP Amenity Area for Trinidad and Tobago is known as Galleons Passage, spanning northeast Trinidad and southwest Tobago. The focus for the first year of the project in Trinidad is the area in and around the proposed Matura National Park, while the Tobago component focuses mainly on the Buccoo Reef Marine Park.
