Noble Man and Crackshot shape well

With racing enjoying a bye this weekend trainers continue to go easy with  their runners on the exercise courses at Santa Rosa Park, Arima. But while most of the horses were given light exercises on both the small and main courses, there was evidence yesterday that trainers would soon be stepping up preparations to get their charges ready to compete on next Friday’s ‘Evening Lime’ card. Producing the best performance on the course made sloppy by overnight showers and constant light drizzles during the early morning period was an unamed son of Renew The Dream. The Glenn Mendez-trained three-year-old appeared very early in the morning   with apprentice Gary Laban aboard and seemed to enjoy the conditions drilling the last 600 metres of the course in 35.42 seconds.

Born To Charm, Music Man, Tactical Bid, and Noble Man and Crackshot were others to do anything of note. Born To Charm, who was piloted to victory by Patrick Husbands on the opening day of the new season looked comfortable over the 600 metres in 37.53 seconds, as was trainer Maniram Maharaj’s Music Man, who completed his run over the same acreage in 39.20 seconds. Tactical Bid was never pressed in her spin over 800 metres covered in 52.57 seconds, while Noble Man and Crackshot shaped well from the 1000 metres in the backstretch to the winning line in 1:05.55 seconds.
