Comets in Sunday cricket semis

ALESCON Comets got the better of defending champions CLICO Preysal to advance to the semi-finals of the 2004 Carib Sunday Cricket League with an 18-run win at Pierre Road, Charlieville.

Batting first the home team made a formidable 275 runs for six wickets in 47 overs, with Chris Magram scoring 80 with 11 fours and one six and former West Indies opener Suruj Ragoonath hit an unbeaten 55 with three fours and one six. Preysal then made a brave run chase and at one point looked as if they were going to overhaul the Comets score but, Nicholas Ramjass with 4/43, denied them and they folded for 257 in the final over. Ex-England Test batsman Mark Ramprakash hit 57 and Alvarado Bryce 52 for Preysal.
