McDonald to make TT football debut
SWIF defender Larry McDonald is set to make his national debut when Trinidad and Tobago take on an Brazilian All Star team at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, tomorrow. The Brazilians are scheduled to arrive here today.
An excited Carlos Edwards arrived home yesterday together with Birmingham City striker Stern John and Livingston defender Marvin “Dog” Andrews for the “Soca vs Samba” football match. Edwards has been starring for Wrexham and has been the subject of attention by other top clubs in England, among them Leeds United, Norwich City, Sunderland, Wigan Athletic, Rotherham and Scottish club Dundee. John said: “I have been looking to playing with the guys again for a long while now and it feels great to be back home for the game. It is important that we start getting it right as a team from now because there are loads of big matches to play and we need to get it right.”
Coach Bertille St Clair finalised his 18-man squad after a light training session yesterday morning. He said the inclusion of the overseas professionals is a plus but he is focusing on getting a well rounded squad and will be looking closely at the available talent over the next few weeks. Five members from the beaten Olympic Games qualifying squad have been included in Tuesday’s team, skipper Silvio Spann, Daurance Williams, Kerry Baptiste, Michael Celestine and Nigel Daniel.
