Plea for housing from NHA

THE EDITOR: I’m writing this letter hoping I can get some answers or help through your paper. I’ve been applying to the NHA since 1984 up until 2002 seeking a place to call home. I was promised an apartment in Powder Magazine, Charford Court, Maloney even Morvant up to this day nothing. I had an interview with the former Minister on October 5, 2003, due to an electrical problem it was cancelled. Shortly after there was a Cabinet reshuffle.

On January, 12, I paid another visit and was told by one Mrs Roberts the current minister is not seeing anyone at the moment, this is being done by one Mr Noel. I then proceeded to make an appointment to see the said gentleman. I was met by a female security officer who told me in no uncertain terms that it can’t be done as Mr Noel can’t help me. I tried explaining to her what the minister’s secretary told me but she just wasn’t listening. Eventually she referred me to the mortgage section saying they deal with such matters, only to be told by a gentleman in that department they can’t help. I’m totally fed up and frustrated. What more must I do to get living accommodation in this country? Maybe I’ll qualify when I’m a homeless person or in the year 2020.
