‘Jesus’ goes back to jail
PATRICK “Jesus” Blair, 59, was found guilty of possession of house breaking implements and sentenced to 15 months imprisonment with hard labour by San Fernando Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan.
The court heard that around 10 pm last Thursday, PC Khemraj Sahadeo was on mobile patrol along Farah Street, San Fernando, when he saw the accused walking along the street with a suspicious bulge in his waist. PC Sahadeo searched Blair and found a knife, a hammer and a wrench hidden under his jersey. Blair claimed he was returning from work. Blair maintained his innocence, claiming he used his hammer regularly. However, it was pointed out by the prosecutor that the hammer appeared never to have been used before. Magistrate Rambachan said the evidence against Blair was overwhelming and a custodial sentence had to be imposed for the offence which carries a maximum of ten years imprisonment. Blair, who recently completed a prison term, has six previous convictions.
