Race Masquerade Committee for Carnival

THE EDITOR: Amidst all the furore that is Carnival I wish to launch a band for Carnival. The name of the committee for its presentation is The carnival Race Masquerade Committee. Interested players can contact Sat Maharaj, Dr Cudjoe, Leroi Clarke, Pearl Eintou Springer and the Gladiator.

The various sections comprise of Apaches, Red Indians, White Indians and Black Indians depending on your taste. There is also an all-inclusive Back to Africa section featuring Zulus, Ashanti and Masai. The menu of all sections consists of doubles, roti, phalourie, pelau, oil-down and accra; pepper is an option. Half of the band leaves Mid Centre Mall Chaguanas at 8.30 am sharp on Carnival Tuesday via the Southern Main Road through Caroni on to Pasea in Tunapuna culminating at the Croisee for a grand last lap chutney jam.

In attendance would be JMC Trevini, Dil-e-Nadan, Gayatones and Tassa Drummers featuring Rikki Jai and Drupatee. The other half of the band leaves the Treasury Building on St Vincent Street via Independence Square up George Street stopping at Hell Yard for a while and then moving on to a grand affair on the Greens behind the bridge. Jamming for the Last Lap would be Cro Cro, Sugar Aloes, Bro Resistance and the Network Riddim Band, the Laventille Rhythm Section with heavy iron.
