Sisters gang-raped in Carapo
Two sisters were gang raped at their Carapo home on Sunday night and robbed of a quantity of cash, jewelry and household items.
One of the victims was abducted and taken to an ATM machine where she was forced to withdraw cash. Reports revealed that around 10 pm, the two women ages 25 and 23 were at the Carapo house when four men armed with a gun and cutlasses entered the house through a broken door. They ordered the 25-year old to a bedroom where the four men took turns in raping her. Two of the four men then raped the 23-year old who is living in Brooklyn, New York, but arrived in the country one month ago to spend some time with her sister. The bandits/rapists then took a quantity of jewelry, $1,300 in cash, household musical equipment, electronic items, a case of Carib beer, a bottle of Black Label rum and other valuables.
The 23-year old victim was then ordered to the getaway vehicle and taken to an ATM machine in Tunapuna. The frightened woman was forced to withdraw $3,000. The bandits then took her card and wrote down her pin number. They drove her back to her Carapo home, then escaped in the car. A report was made to the Arima Police and a party of police officers went to the scene and carried out a search for fingerprints. The two victims were medically examined. Investigators told Newsday that based on the description of the suspects, arrests are imminent. A surveillance camera from the ATM machine was viewed yesterday by investigators.
