Murder suspect held during police raid
A 20-year-old man suspected of murdering an East Dry River man last Saturday was held by officers attached to the Inter Agency Squad following a raid in the East Dry River area on Saturday morning. According to reports, during the raid officers searched a home in the area, where they found a shotgun believed to have been used in the murder of Hayden George who was shot to death last Saturday in the same area. The young man found with the firearm will appear on several identification parades, and is also expected to be charged with George’s murder.
The suspected murder accused is expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate along with 14 others arrested during the raids for other various offences ranging from possession of arms and ammunition, drug possession and robberies. The Port-of-Spain Task Force was also a part of the exercise which was coordinated by ASP Sealey and Ag Insp Singh of the Besson Street CID. Investigations are continuing.
