TSTT joins Cable and Wireless to sponsor Test cricket in West Indies
When the Second Test of the 2004 West Indies versus England series begins at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain on March 19, the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (TSTT) will join Cable and Wireless as a co-sponsor of the series. TSTT signed a three-year $1.4 million sponsorship deal with Cable and Wireless further solidifying their support for West Indies cricket. Samuel Martin, CEO of TSTT said: “With this partnership, TSTT continues to demonstrate its commitment and support of West Indies cricket. Whereas in the past TSTT facilitated Cable and Wireless with the series whenever the teams played in Trinidad and Tobago, this co-sponsorship makes TSTT an active partner and contributor to the series and West Indies cricket as a whole.”
This is the 19th year that Cable and Wireless have been a major sponsor of West Indies cricket — making it the world’s longest running sports sponsorship. TSTT corporate communications manager Rae Ann Harper-Walters added: “Cable and Wireless and TSTT share an unwavering passion for West Indies cricket and we are proud to now actively demonstrate this support in an even more meaningful way.” TSTT is 49 percent owned by Cable and Wireless. Last year TSTT entered a two-year sponsorship agreement with West Indies captain Brian Lara making TSTT the “official telecoms provider” and “official mobile provider” of the star batsman.
