TT U-23s scrape past Guyana 1-0

TRINIDAD and Tobago under-23 footballers eked out a 1-0 victory over Guyana in their friendly international “freeness” at the Marvin Lee Stadium, Macoya, Tunapuna, yesterday. The only goal of the match came from Michael Celestine who tapped in a rebound, after a fierce drive by Trent Noel beat Guyana goalkeeper Marlon Hendricks and smashed against the bar.

Guyana had two chances to get an equalising goal in time added in the first half, but skipper Shawn Beveney and Randolph Jerome squandered them both. Trinidad and Tobago defender Corey Rivers lasted just one minute on the field, when he injured an ankle in a tackle on Jerome. The game was held up for approximately 10 minutes because there was no ambulance in attendance, and a call had to be made to the Mount Hope Hospital for assistance.
