Tile it Central Sports whip Las Lomas in Carib Shield

Tile It Central Sports, led by an unbeaten 61 from opener Satish Naidoo, whipped Las Lomas by eight wickets in their opening match of the 2004 Carib Shield cricket series at Presentation College, Chaguanas yesterday. Central Sports needed on 19.1 overs to reach their winning target of 118 for the loss of only two wickets, as Naidoo and Guyanese Derwyn Christian (25) led the way.  At Inshan Ali Park, a fine bowling performance by the home team Clico Preysal, restricted Couva Sports to 174 for nine in their allotted 30 overs. Only Azard Mohammed with 36 offered any real resistance, as Shazam Babwah who scored 85 on the first day, returned with the ball to grab two for 28 and the “Man-of- the-Match” award. At the Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain, Petrock Nicholas with 44 took the home team to a six-wicket victory over Aranguez.

Chasing a paltry 113 made by Las Lomas yesterday, Nicholas guided the Parkites home in only 17.2 overs. Guyanese batsman Looknath Ramsuchit with an unbeaten 105 took W-Connection Wanderers to an eight-wicket victory over Munroe Road at Cunupia. Together with William Perkin (47), the duo took Wanderers to their winning target off 179 for two in 27.1 overs.  Ramsuchit scored his century in 94 minutes off 94 balls with 11 fours and two sixes.
