Burke sweeps ’em at t-tennis trials

REEZA BURKE swept all his five opponents yesterday in the round-robin Men’s Division as the national table-tennis trials began at the Jean Pierre Sports Complex, Mucurapo. Burke defeated his challengers Curtis Humphreys, Anthony Brown, Courtney Pugh, Arnold Felix and Terry Corbin. Humphreys finished second, after he won three out of his five matches while Brown, Pugh and Felix were victorious in two games and Corbin one. Anson Wellington and Khellon Roach both won two out of three contests in the Junior Division but Wellington was given the nod by the judges.

The Edwards brothers Aaron and Andrew won one match each amongst the juniors. Linda Partap-Boodhan topped the Women’s category after she was victorious in five out of six games, with Marilyn Lewis and Natalie Montes winning four, Shelly-Ann Parris three, Nicole Motilal and Shelly-Ann Wilson two and Astra Edwards one.
