Grazette brothers in Public Courts final

THE GRAZETTE brothers, Ivor and Winnington, will meet from 3 pm today in the Men’s “A” Division final of the Public Courts Open Classified Tennis Championships. At the Public Courts, Port of Spain yesterday, Winnington eased past Harry Mahase in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. Grazette’s elder brother Ivor qualified for today’s final on Friday with victory over Michael Cooper.

But Cooper will have the chance to redeem himself today when he meet Swaran Maharaj in the men’s veterans final. In yesterday’s semis, Cooper cruised past Ivor Jack 6-4, 6-2 while Maharaj needed three sets to defeat Athelstan Phillips 6-1, 3-6, 7-5. Two other semis were contested yesterday, with another Grazette, Dayna, whipping Vanessa Lee Foon 6-2, 6-2  in the women’s “A” while Christina Bennett overcame Michelle Cazabon 6-3, 6-2 in the women’s “C”.
